Post Remodel Must-Do Check List

Once the final construction walk-through is done and the punch list complete, a homeowner feels like the remodel is really done and the family can go back to life as normal – now with a beautiful home. That’s mostly true, although there are a few items we recommend our clients do when we’ve given back the key:

  1. Register items for warranty – if new appliances were part of your remodel, we highly recommend that you register those appliances immediately. This way, you’ll be sure to know if any product recalls pertain to your model and should you have an issue, you’re a known entity.
  2. Ask maintenance questions – part of our process is to educate clients on materials that work best for their lifestyle, usually with regards to sealing and other maintenance needs. If you’ve chosen a surface that you’re questioning how to clean, don’t hesitate to ask us a question. If we don’t know the answer, we’ll go to our trade partners to get their favorite cleaning products and tools. We want your spaces to remain as beautiful as can be for as long as possible.
  3. Protect your wood floors – Nothing is worse than an ugly scratch on gorgeous new (or newly refinished) wood floor. One of the common mistakes we hear is that a homeowner delayed in putting felt pads on the bottom of each chair leg, couch and any other furniture surface that will touch the floor. Even pet nails, if kept long, can scratch wood floors. Keep them gorgeous and perfect for the long-run.

By finishing off these three things, you’re not only building peace of mind that you’ll know how to clean your newly renovated rooms, but also that should an issue arise, your information is known and that a speedy resolution can be ready.
