Sammamish Indoor/Outdoor Pavilion

Long-time clients Jerry & Kendall wanted an additional space that was comfortable for friends and family to get together year-round. While their outdoor firepit was a family favorite, our Northwest weather often rained, literally, on their parade. The couple decided that an outbuilding was the answer – so they contacted our team to create an outdoor living space addition that would meet their needs. They wanted it to include a covered grilling space, a space to watch sports, and an area for indoor/outdoor entertaining. Their Sammamish property was large enough to accommodate such an addition and our team got to work.

After the design was developed and permits were in hand, our team excavated the hillside so that the footings and foundation could be poured. The stucco exterior was matched to that of the existing home, while Bluestone Flagstone pavers were found to blend the new patio into a seamless extension of the existing one. The couple selected a NanaWall door system so the doors could be opened completely in nice weather, providing an unobstructed flow to the rest of the patio. Gable windows and skylights provide optimal light while the couple and their guests stay warm and dry regardless of the weather. Comfort is managed year-round with a fireplace, while additional Infratech heaters are mounted over the NanaWall doors for use on particularly frigid days. Warm days are cooled with a gentle breeze from their Haiku ceiling fan.

One side of the pavilion contains a table for dining, along with a cooking space complete with an Urban Islands grill, KitchenAid dishwasher, refrigerator, and ice maker. The space contains a full lighting plan with recessed can lights, pendants and sconces for meal prep. Cabinets from Canyon Creek in the Millenia collection, (maple wood, painted in Rain) house the couple’s dishes and serving platters. A beautiful Silestone countertop from Cosentino in Ethereal Dusk, tops off the beautiful prep space.

The other side of the pavilion is ideal for socializing or watching the game – all in comfort. The linear fireplace has a beautiful stone front for warmth on cold days or when a little ambiance is warranted. Built-in shelves hold games and family photos to personalize the space.

Kendall and Jerry are thrilled with their outdoor living space addition, as are their grandchildren.
