Patio Features That Make You Want to Be Outside
It’s that time of year when we get just a little glimmer of summer followed by spring showers. In between the drizzle, we find it’s a worthwhile effort to start creating an outdoor living space that draws you outside. We promise the nice weather is coming!
First, in our fickle environment you need durable, comfortable seating that can withstand a quick rain shower if your deck or patio isn’t covered. Choose a dining set that can comfortably seat you and your friends for a casual dinner. Then you’ll want to have a seating space (or two!) where you can read a book or curl up with your coffee. And don’t forget to add warmth as part of your perfect set-up. Patio heaters, a firepit, and comfy, washable throws are recommended.
Then if your space allows, we suggest a built-in outdoor kitchen that includes a small refrigerator or at a minimum a quality grill. A good outdoor light is a necessity for a truly functional space, while mood lighting will take your outdoor space to a higher level – consider sparkle lights along with solar lanterns. Finally, be sure your space is nature centric – surround yourself with your favorite flowers and native plants to enjoy. Don’t forget that specific herbs can help if mosquitos are an issue and these are easily included in a tablescape to serve double duty as both a functional and an aesthetic element.
