Springtime Prep for an Easier Season

There are a few things you can do around the house to help make your spring season go a little smoother.

  1. Stock the freezer – whether this is your busy season at the ball field or at the office, we could all benefit from having healthy solutions for a quick meal, ready to be reheated.
  2. Clean out the refrigerator – having a clean refrigerator is really a blessing for both the appliance and the user. Not only will the frig work better when not bogged down by dust, grime and stuck on food, but you’ll be able to find things easier and nourish yourself and your family, better. KitchenAid has a good step-by-step guide on how to do this effectively.
  3. Clean the garbage disposal – Easily one of the hardest working appliances in the kitchen, the garbage disposal is often ignored. At least once a year and as needed, give your garbage disposal a good cleaning to keep it functioning well and smelling great.
  4. Open your windows – as the season allows, open your windows and let fresh air in and smell the flowers…literally. This can help reduce stale air, lessen your home’s toxic burden and generally just feel good.
  5. Go through your junk drawer. It’s amazing what can build up over the course of a year. Make sure what you’re storing is a worthwhile use of limited space.
  6. Clean your windows – get on your window washers list or do the task yourself. We usually recommend doing this chore twice a year, once in the spring and again in the fall. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do this well.

Whether you tackle one, or all, of these spring cleaning chores, make sure you’ve got your favorite music on to keep you motivated and get to work making your home a little cleaner this Spring!
