Replace Garage Doors for Improved Curb Appeal

Garage doors serve a very practical purpose – they house our cars and provide space for home storage. They also give our guests their first impression of our home. Peeling paint, mismatched doors, and otherwise worn out models are not ideal for showcasing our biggest investment. If you’re considering replacing your garage doors as part of your next remodel, here’s what you should consider:

Focus on Quality
Be sure to consider appropriate garage door materials for our weather environment. While we have a more temperate climate than in some other areas of the US, you may need a more insulated version depending on what you typically store in your garage. We love the wood options that many of our clients choose when upgrading, although steel, aluminum, vinyl, and fiberglass options are also available.

Pick the Right Style
Carriage style doors are a historic nod to when we used horse-drawn carriages. Today’s version can swing out or up and provide an upgraded look to a home design while maintaining a classic feel.

Classic/Traditional are the most common garage doors you’ll see. Timeless and classic, this style of door is typically the most cost-effective and will complement a multitude of home styles.

Craftsman styles are a more traditional choice offering clean lines and recessed panels, along with square or rectangular windows and neutral colors.

Modern/Contemporary doors are ideal for a more modern home aesthetic since they are often featured in glass or metal.  Clean lines, sleek window designs, and bold colors are also trademark features of this style.

Create a Design Focal Point
Remember that garage doors are an important feature of the front of your home, so opting for a design that fits your home’s style is important. Feeling bold? Color options and stains are endless. Also, don’t underestimate the value of good hardware. Just as kitchen hardware is the piece de resistance of your cabinets, garage door hardware can elevate or detract from your chosen model. You are only limited by your imagination and budget.
