Our Five Favorite Primary Suite Design Features

If you’re someone with a primary suite remodel or addition on your to-do list this year, you’ll want to make sure it contains all the elements that will make this investment worthwhile. These are our five favorite primary suite design features you may want to include:

  1. Individual closets. If you have the space, a dedicated closet space for each partner is ideal for creating personalized storage. Often one person in the couple requires less space than the other, so individual closet space is the best way to meet each person’s needs by creating solutions for belts, purses, shoes and more!
  2. A well-considered bathroom. Most of our clients are requesting a soaking tub, two sinks with sufficient counter space, a shower with multiple showerheads and a separate toilet room. Beautiful but low maintenance materials such as quartz and tile are in demand, while upgrades like heated tile and towel warmers are small nods to luxury.
  3. Private retreat. Many of our clients opt for a small balcony off their bedroom for a place to unwind at the end of a busy day. Perfect for a glass of wine at night with your partner or coffee on a lazy weekend morning, this is a private respite to busy lives. These spaces are especially great if you have a relaxing view from which to appreciate them. If outdoor space is not a possibility, ensure your room has a small sitting area for reading a book, talking with your partner, or just quietly scrolling your feed.
  4. Fireplace. Could anything be more romantic or lovely than having a fireplace in your primary suite? We don’t think so. Many of our clients want their bedroom to be a place of rest and a gas fire at the touch of a button creates a warm and cozy environment and adds a touch of luxury.
  5. Tech upgrades. Depending on personal preferences and priorities, you may want to include built-in speakers, smart mirrors, voice activated controls, smart outlets, automated lighting, and touchless faucets. Seriously consider what you would use daily and be sure to address those must-have items during the design phase.
