Sammamish Outdoor Living Space Upgrade for Optimal Wildlife Viewing
Recent clients, Jeffrey and Joyce, loved sitting out to watch the animals in their backyard. Their property backed up to a greenbelt, so wildlife viewing was prime. They even had a pet squirrel that returned regularly for a snack. They loved their home; however, they were tired of looking at their worn deck and only being able to enjoy it in nice weather as it was open to the elements. So, they contacted the McAdams Remodeling & Design team as their remodeler of choice to upgrade their Sammamish outdoor living space so they could enjoy their backyard all year round.
One challenge the couple desired to solve with their remodel was the access point to the deck. While it was located directly outside their dining room, it was not directly accessible, instead requiring a walk across the yard to reach. The McAdams team removed a large window in their dining room and replaced it with a sliding glass door offering direct access. Sometimes little changes like this can make a huge difference in utilizing your home’s best features. During that transformation, they also wanted to replace the existing carpet with new hardwood flooring in both the dining room and adjacent living room, offering a more consistent look and upgraded feel to the interior.
Previously wood, the upgraded deck was constructed in composite, lessening the annual maintenance needs while providing longevity. The new space is a slightly larger footprint than before, offering room for friends and neighbors to join them. Because the new deck was partially covered, it offered Jeffrey and Joyce the option to sit under the covered portion on rainy days with natural light from the skylights, while they were still able to be out in the sunshine on nice days. The wildlife viewing vantage point is much improved and ready for lions, and tigers, and bears, or squirrels, oh my!
