Small Changes Make a Large Impact on this Redmond Outdoor Living Space
Small details can make a large impact when undertaking the remodel of an outdoor living space. Redmond clients Joe and Andrea hired McAdams Remodeling & Design to remodel their deck as the busy family loved using it on nice days. The current version had a few limitations that the couple wanted solved in the new deck design. The current design didn’t have a paved pathway that would allow for walking easily from the front to the backyard. They also didn’t have a place to store their garbage and recycling receptacles that kept them out of sight from the front of the house but still easily accessible. The only entrance/exit point from the deck was from the second-floor kitchen area as there were no stairs from the deck to the backyard. Finally, their home was heavily tree covered so the deck was hard to use on darker evenings.
The newly remodeled deck includes a small covered sitting area that can be used in inclement weather as it also includes a heater for optimal comfort, along with good lighting for nighttime use. Also, the entire railing was lined with LED strip lighting, including down the stairs, offering both ambiance and safety. To manage the pitch of the stairs, a mid-point landing was created in wood to match the main decking. Now traversing up or down may be done day or night while being cohesive and attractive.
